Chairman's Preface

Preface to the 9th Food Ingredient Asia Conference

We are pleased to present the 9th Food Ingredient Asia (FiA) Conference, held under the theme “Shaping the Future of Global Food Systems: Evidence-Based Food Innovation, Nutrition, Health, and International Collaboration.” The conference took place from 16–18 September 2026 at Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia, alongside the Food Ingredient Asia (FiA) Exhibition.

The 9th FiA Conference was organized through the collaboration of several leading institutions, including the SEAFAST Center–IPB University, the Division of Food Science and Technology–Faculty of Engineering and Technology-IPB University, the Indonesian Association of Food Technologists (IAFT), and the Indonesian Food and Beverage Association (GAPMMI). Building upon the legacy of previous FiA Conferences, this event provided a strategic platform for researchers, academics, industry professionals, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share perspectives, and foster meaningful collaboration in advancing food science, technology, nutrition, and health toward a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future.

The conference brought together approximately 250 participants from diverse backgrounds, creating a dynamic environment for scientific exchange, professional engagement, and collaboration. Through plenary lectures, technical sessions, panel discussions, and industry engagement, participants explored a wide range of topics, including food safety and quality, food innovation, sustainability, emerging technologies, nutrition, health, and the evolving landscape of global food systems.

“Shaping the future of global food systems through evidence-based food innovation, nutrition, health, and international collaboration.”

The theme of this year’s conference reflects the profound transformation facing global food systems. Population growth, climate change, resource constraints, evolving dietary patterns, and socioeconomic pressures have created significant challenges for food security, nutrition, public health, and environmental sustainability. At the same time, advances in science and technology offer new opportunities to develop safer, healthier, more nutritious, and sustainable food solutions. In this context, evidence-based approaches and cross-sector collaboration are essential to ensure that innovation is scientifically sound, socially relevant, and responsive to global needs.

The Food Ingredient Asia Conference continues to serve as an important platform connecting science, industry, and policy. The 9th FiA Conference emphasized the integration of food science, nutrition, and health within sustainable food systems, while highlighting the importance of international collaboration in accelerating innovation, strengthening scientific and regulatory cooperation, and promoting equitable access to safe and nutritious food.

The conference also supported capacity building and the development of future professionals through activities such as the Undergraduate Student Food Product Development Competition (FPDC) and the Graduate Student Research Paper Competition (GSRPC). These programs encouraged creativity, critical thinking, scientific excellence, and innovation among students and young researchers.

We sincerely appreciate the panel of reviewers for their time, expertise, and constructive feedback in supporting the quality of the scientific contributions presented at the conference. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to all speakers, presenters, participants, organizing committee members, partners, and contributors whose dedication enriched the event.

Our special appreciation goes to our sponsors and supporting organizations, including Informa, Food Industry Asia (FIA), the Indonesian Soft Drink Industry Association (ASRIM), PT Sinar Sosro Gunung Slamat, and Garuda Food, for their invaluable support and contribution.

The success of the 9th FiA Conference would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of the Organizing Committee and everyone who contributed their time, knowledge, and expertise. Their collective efforts have strengthened the conference as a forum for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration.

Ultimately, the 9th FiA Conference aims to contribute to the development of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable global food systems. We hope that the knowledge, ideas, and connections generated through this event will continue to inspire research, innovation, and collaboration toward healthier populations, stronger food systems, and a more sustainable future.

Sincerely,

The Organizing Committee
